MWGO Membership
The Maine Wilderness Guides Organization is an association of Registered Maine Guides and Sporting Camp/Lodge owners and their supporters. Our membership is composed of a diverse selection of professional guides who are committed to providing safe, educational, and meaningful outdoor experiences for our guests.
MWGO Membership is not an obligation of all Registered Maine Guides, in fact one need not even be a Guide to join MWGO. Our membership categories include the owners of sporting camps, lodges, and outfitters as well as Friends of MWGO who simply wish to support the mission of MWGO. Guides who join MWGO not only support our mission but also hold themselves to a higher standard than that of the state by following the MWGO Code of Ethics.
MWGO Code of Ethics
- Respect the land and the landowners.
- Provide the safest possible trips for our guests, with quality equipment and instruction.
- Obey all fishing, hunting, boating, and camping laws and regulations.
- Assist/help authorities, outdoorsmen/women in need.
- Strive to maintain guiding skills and standards which are above those required by the state.
- Educate others about natural resource issues, stewardship, and the importance of conservation.
MWGO Membership Levels
- Registered Maine Guide (Annual) – $50
- Registered Maine Guide (Lifetime) – $500
- Sporting Camp Owner or Outfitter (Annual) – $100
- Sporting Camp Owner or Outfitter (Lifetime) – $500
- Corporate Sponsor (Annual) – $200
- Corporate Sponsor (Lifetime) – $1000
- Friends of MWGO (Annual) – $35
- Friends of MWGO (Lifetime) – $250
